Aritha van Herk is the author of five novels, five works of nonfiction, and hundreds of articles and reviews. In This Place and Prairie Gothic develop the idea of geographical temperament as tonal accompaniment. Her latest book is a collection of poetry, Stampede and the Westness of West. She teaches at the University of Calgary is working on new approaches to writing place and history.
