Three writers and professors of creative writing discuss stories and poems they use in teaching, as well as stories or poems derived from the teaching they do. Jennifer Chambers explores creative writing pedagogy using writing prompts to motivate students. Ian Williams weaves the narrative of a memorable student with the narrative of a writing exercise in a personal tale of nonfiction that ends up inspiring the poem he needs to write. Glenn Clifton considers "Stories We Don't Teach,” examining how creative works in the classroom can underscore the distance between teacher and student, and the significance of that divide.
