This panel will discuss models and strategies of teaching playwriting and facilitating the development of new plays within a classroom/workshop context. It will attempt to address questions such as: How can we help aspiring playwrights to find their own voice? What is teachable and what is not? What strategies are more effective? What are the challenges? How do we overcome the obstacles? Should we encourage experimentation, and how? What would an ideal playwriting program look like?
